Architect:
James Carpenter Design Associates
Completion:
1995
Description:
A blank exterior wall is creatively treated with cantilevered glass in this competition-winning design by James Carpenter. It is called the Dichroic Light Field as the glass trasmits one color while reflecting a different color.
According to the architect's web page, "Two hundred and sixteen dichroic laminated glass fins arranged perpendicular to the plane, and secured behind the surface, have the effect of reflecting and transmitting complementary halves of the spectrum of light, creating constantly changing fields of color."
